I realize as I stand in front of some fourth grader's piece of shit painting of a bowl of what I'm assuming is fruit, that I am a cynical bitch. I can't even stand to look at it. What kind of woman does that make me? I hate this. If a kid gave this unproportional  thing that this stupid teacher encourages to be called 'art'. Its really pathetic. These bland and boring colors don't blend. And Christ is that a grapefruit or a lemon?

Kids are told that these pieces of garbage are perfect the way they are. Lies. This is the age of 'make your kids feel good even if they suck'. What happened to toughening up boys? Its no longer who is the best, its about who tries the hardest. Bullshit. That's not the real world. If you want to get your kids ready for after school. Tell them the truth. "No Billy, you suck at football, maybe you should try chess club." "No Molly, you're too fat to be a cheerleader, try band." That will make your kids ehh... SMARTER.

If you have ever gone into a job interview and the guy asking you questions inquires if you like making snowmen or snow forts better, well done. Take the job. I have never experienced anything of the sort. Its can you do such-in-such better than this guy? If yes you get the job, if no, go work at McDonald's. Maybe if you can prove to them that you're really nice, honest, you might get the job out of pity. No one wants to hire a boy who thinks that maybe if he tries and comes out with a final product, its good enough. Surprise! its not.

Well whatever works. I love this store. Just not at this time of year. Crowded. Full of angsty and mission crazed parents.
